Characteristics of Sendai City

Sendai city is the focal point for politics, economy and culture in the Tohoku region, but is called “the city of trees” due to the lush natural environment such as the avenues of zelkova trees in the city. It is also known as an “academic city” because of Tohoku University, constantly attracting attention from various fields around the world as a center of academic research, and many other diverse higher education institutions.

②A wonderful environment for holding conventions plus many past achievements.
In Sendai City, we aim to provide three unique convention styles: the “City Convention” held at city hotels, “Large-scale Conventions” at the International Conference Hall, and “Resort Conventions” held at hot springs away from the hustle and bustle of everyday. We are able to make suggestions to meet your requests. We have extensive experience in holding international government conventions such as the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Senior Officials’ Meeting III, the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction 2015 Sendai Japan, G7 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting, Sendai, as well as large scale conventions such as the 80th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Japanese Circulation Society, the 137th Annual Meeting of the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan, and the 90th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Orthopaedic Association.

Financial support for holding conventions

We actively support organizers by offering a subsidy system to subsidize some of the expenses for international and domestic conferences and conventions held in Sendai city and also organize a lending system to lend the necessary expenses interest free. For the success of each convention, we not only actively support the organizers and the secretariat but also the participants so they can be satisfied with their stay in Sendai.

①Stages of candidacy
We assist in making the bid paper, offer videos and photos for promotion, suggest venues.

②Preparation period
Introduction of affiliated companies, attractions, excursions, unique venues, experience menus and so on.

③During the event
Offering goods unique to Sendai (we set up product booths and hospitality desks, and lend out Tanabata decorations,).
