Outline

Hiroshima is the largest city in the Chugoku region locating in the western part of the Japanese mainland. The major industry is manufacturing, and the city is home to world-class companies such as Mazda Motor Corporation. While being a bustling commercial and industrial city, it also has flourishing agriculture and fisheries industries thanks to its natural surroundings including the Seto Inland Sea and the Chūgoku mountains.

Moreover, Hiroshima is home to 21 universities including Hiroshima University and research institutions such as the National Research Institute of Fisheries and Environment of Inland Sea, which produce academics and professionals who are driving innovation in a variety of fields.
